Chapter One: The Love of Learning

Whether in the classroom or on a track a large part of my life has been constantly learning, and I love it.

As a competitive runner for 9 years and a Division I Athlete for 5 years you have to continuously learn and grow in order to succeed in your sport. For me, it took one broken foot and my senior year to recover for me to learn the biggest lesson of all, opportunities can come from hardship.  My injury allowed me to experience DePaul's first ever podium finish for the women's outdoor track and field team, to continue my education and receive my Master's and to stay and work full-time for DePaul.

As a young professional in the higher education scenery I relish the fact that I am in an environment to continue learning. From my experiences abroad, to my public relations and advertising class projects, to having my former professors as "colleagues", I learn something new every single day in my current role.

In my first project for graduate school, I was asked who are you? Good question. My answer - I am an old, pair of worn running shoes.

I designed a new product! And I came up with two different ways to advertise it to two different target audiences. (for class only, the product has not been invented... yet).

Meeting with Wintrust Founder and CEO, Ed Whember to talk about Leadership was by far my favorite memory from my graduate program.
